We like to talk, like a lot. Sometimes we write about things that are important to our customers. And sometimes, well we just write things because we don’t know what else to do with ourselves.

What’s a Good Merch Table?

Being a musician means running your own business, and an important part of that is having a strong merch table. It’s where you can meet and greet your fans and display your fans (and potential new fans) to your brand making it an extremely important point of sale opportunity.
Your fans can help you market your band and music through your available merch which is not just a great way to make money, it’s a great way to reach new audiences and continuously promote your brand.

So what should you have on your merch table? What are other creative ways to promote your band? How can you grab their attention and make sure they don’t leave empty handed?

First off, you want to make sure you have variety. This means having not just different types of merch, but offering merch at different price points and accepting different methods of payment. You also want to make sure that your merch table is run professionally, but make sure it’s not too stiff- whoever is running your table should interact with your fans and clientele and engage with them so they feel more connected to your music. Additionally, you can have options for them to interact with you such as email sign up lists, giveaways, freebies, or photo opportunities with band members.

Second, you need merch for your merch table! CDs and or vinyl are a must, but have you thought about what else you can offer? T-shirts and other apparel are a common go-to, but there are plenty of options for you to promote your band and make your customers happy at the same time. Since everyone has different preferences, having more options is always better.

Here are a few more options:

  • Stickers/bumper stickers
  • Coasters
  • Coozies
  • Lighters
  • Bottle Openers
  • Posters (and/or autographed posters)
  • Shot glasses
  • Coffee Mugs
  • Tote bags
  • Match boxes
  • Pens
  • Hats
  • Magnets
  • Guitar picks
  • Lanyards
  • Flasks

Whether you decide to sell t-shirts, hats, guitar picks or magnets, variety is the key. If you’re looking for unique merchandise options, Copycats Media can help you out!
